About the performance
PREMIÈRE 18 DECEMBER 2014
"You know, how immoral our world has become. If we must do dirty things, we could at least do them clean."
Yatrik Theatre was established in 1964 by Joy Michael, Rati Bartholomew, Roshan Seth, Sushma Seth and Marcus Murch. Since its beginnings till today, in one way or another, the majority of the influential theatre artists in India have worked in it. Socially-critical works and street theatre bring an important emphasis to the theatre repertoire. Many classics have graced its stage, including Shakespeare, Brecht, Tendulkar, Weiss, Bennett, Pinter, Wedekind and other world classics, but the
theatre pays particular attention to new drama, especially Indian (Irpinder Purie, Manjula Padmanabhan, Poile Sengupta and Avijit Dutt). Comedy about the End of the World by Evald Flisar is the first Slovenian play they’ve staged.
"We have to ask ourselves what is real, who’s real and who’s wearing a mask, and above all if the end of the world is an approaching reality or merely a concealed battle between different interest groups – a battle in which both revolutionary scientists and exploitative profiteers operate underground. In this battle between the principled inventors and profiteers with no consciousness, the latter will of course win," says the director and actor Avijit Dutt, a respected Indian director, actor,
educator and playwright."
