About the performance

PREMIÈRE 7 OCTOBER 2014
THE PERFORMANCE IS 40 MINUTES LONG AND HAS NO INTERVAL.

"Many people don' t have enough money. Some people have no money. Some people will never have enough money. Some people will always work for very little money.
Some people work for free. Some people work for a lot of money. Some people don' t work. You do nothing bu t work. Pause. Do they pay you all the hours you do?"

ABCDE_F is a performance inspired by the testimonies of people of different profiles, professions, cultural environments, who generously shared their experience of work. With the performance the artists wish to encourage a discussion about work and our attitude towards it. And also about the changing work conditions. About the strained work conditions. Objectifying creativity. Objectifying humans. The artists wish to record the models of work in different environments. And their alternatives. And above all they wish that the performance doesn’t end when the curtain falls, and they’re inviting you to share your experience of work. Dilemma. Problem. Opinion. Challenge. Information. About what we do. And if we could do it differently.

"In a time when thousands of people are out of work, and a bunch of others work non-stop, when the working conditions are pushed to the extreme limits of possible, when work is becoming more and more automatised and even creativity doesn’t have enough time to squeeze out of the moulds of the ordinary and predictable, individuals – workers are more and more objectified, when we cannot live on our work or we even work without payment and it seems that nobody enjoys work anymore, the questions, posed by the authors and performers, are undoubtedly extremely relevant. Saška Rakef and Jasmina Založnik draft them with the help of musicians (Jelena Milojević, Uroš Jezdić and Vanja Dizdarević) in a subtly poetic, ambiental and minimalistically purified sound narrative, based on the rhythm of words and music. They avoid the abundance of words and instead with a carefully constructed narrative they draw images of (working) everyday and with the softness of the soundscape in a darkened space they create a safe environment for living the experience in which paradoxical emotions about nature and work conditions are opened."
